About Us

.

What we do and how it works:

.
Cardiff and Vale County Schools Football is an Association run by teachers and supported by primary and secondary schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

.

The Cardiff & Vale County FA was formed on June 12th 1896 and was a founder member of both the Welsh (1904) and the English (1911) Schools’ Associations. The Association covers the area of  Cardiff, Barry, Penarth, Llantwit Major and Cowbridge and thus almost the whole of South Glamorgan. The Association oversees Junior and Secondary  Schools’ league competitions and a number of knockout cup tournaments.

.

The first boys Cardiff & Vale representative side to be formed was the Under 15 team (1906), followed by the Under 11 team (1953), the Under 13 team (1965), the Under 14 team (1983) and finally the Under 12 team (1991). Each representative team competes in a variety of league and cup competitions organised by the Welsh Schools’ Football Association (WSFA) or various County Associations as well as playing friendly matches against other districts or development centres/academies.

.

We have recently developed our girls representative sides. In 2011 we had our first U16 girls rep team. This season we have added our U14s and for 2014/15  season we will have squads at Under 11/12/14/16 age groups.

.
Players recommended by their schools are chosen, via trials, to join these teams. Players selected for our County teams at trials will have the opportunity to represent both his school and his county in Welsh Schools FA competitions against other counties in Wales. Our County teams also compete in the presitigious English Schools FA Inter Association Competitions.
.
Opportunities arise for players playing in our teams to be recommended for the South Wales and the National Squads because games are watched by the national selectors. Additionally, games are frequently visited by ‘Premier League’ and ‘Championship’ scouts and several ‘old boys’ have signed for Premier League and ‘Championship’ clubs!

This website will give you instant access to County fixtures, league tables, match/training info and much more.
