Cardiff & Vale 2-4 Essex, 1/4 ESFA Inter County FA Cup

In this 1/4 Final match against a strong Essex team which boasted such past players as David Beckham and John Terry, Cardiff faced a tough test of character against a tough experienced team. Cardiff started very brightly and should have gone ahead early on with 2 very good chances. Against the run of play Essex scored with a powerful drive, their 1st shot on goal. Cardiff soon equalised with some excellent play by Rhys Hunter well finished from a tight angle by Dan Raymond. Cardiff were dominating but couldn’t convert their possession into goals. Again Essex converted a chance with a thunderbolt from the edge of the box. 2-1 Essex. 2 shots – 2 goals.

Essex started strongly in the second half and scored 2 very quick but soft goals. Cardiff found themselves 4-1 down which was incredibly harsh. Their never say die attitude meant Cardiff quickly responded with a well taken penalty from Dan Raymond. Minutes later Cardiff were awarded another penalty but it was well saved by the keeper. Cardiff rallied again but couldn’t find a way past their goal keeper who was excellent. A great spectacle finished 4-2 to Essex.

Congratulations to Clayton Green, Vinny Carter, Dominic Pates, Kieron Harman, Kieran Joseph and Ben Chandler from our U18s squad who were selected to play in the final trial, North v South match to determine the Wales U18 Schoolboy squad for upcoming matches v Australia, England, Rep Ireland, New Zealand and Scotland. All the players represented the South Wales team in the final trial at Wrexham FC on Thursday 8th December. All the lads have worked hard to gain this opportunity and we hope they are all successful in gaining a spot in the final squad. Well done boys!!!

Great performance for our U13s who beat RCT 10-0 in Aberdare on Monday night. Goals from Ibi So Sani (4), Rhys kavanagh (3), Kane Teear Bourge, Conor Burns and Dylan Amin ensuring Cardiff & Vale stay top of the U13s league. 5 goals in each half from the lads, who were simply fantastic and outclassed RCT in every department. The players displayed great work ethic and intensity and produced some slick football which was great on the eye.

Congratulations to the U11’s squads who once again managed to bag all 12 points with 4 wins against Torfaen on Thursday 24th November. Both teams gained cracking results against a well organised and disciplined Torfaen side. Note should be made of clean sheets record with the U11 White team continuing a perfect start to the season with 0 goals conceded. Also Brandon Slattery now heads up the Top Goalscorers list with 8 after scoring 5 in one game.

Also the U15’s gained a credible 1-1 draw at Jenner Park on Thirsday 24th November against a predictibly strong Newport side who had recently drawn 1-1 away to Swansea. Tom Smith getting the Cardiff & Vale goal. Let’s hope these points all contribute towards a stronger 2nd half of season. Next up RCT at Jenner Park on Thursday 1st Dec ko 7.15pm.

Due to the wet weather there is a chance that our match will be OFF on Saturday. We will know by Friday afternoon.

Our match Saturday against Ceredigion at U11/12/14 age groups is now a 12pm ko.

Bus pick up times will be altered to reflect this and we now depart at 7.35am at B&Q Cardiff Gate and 7.5oam at Mary Immaculate.

Our U18s were unlucky last night (Tuesday) going down galliantly 3-1 to Somerset in the ESFA Inter county Tournament. The Squad battled hard and despite dominating the game failed to convert their numerous chances into goals. Somerset leading 2-1 at half time were saved by some excellent goal keeping and poor finishing from Cardiff & Vale in what was an exciting match from start to finish.

Our fixture against Ceredigion/Aberystwyth will soon be upon us on Saturday Nov 12th. ko 12.00pm.

We have 3 squads travelling (U11/12/14) We are taking 1 bus to Aberystwyth and this will be departing from B&Q Cardiff Gate at 8am and picking up at Mary Immaculate High at 8.15am before heading to M4 and a 3 hour journey to Aberystwyth.(ETA 11.00am). We will depart straight after our matches have finished.

If you would like to book a seat/s please let me know how many you would like. There will be a cost per person of approx £12.
